Tambdi Surla

Around 13 kms from Molem amidst dense forests of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary lies hidden the most ancient Shiva temple of Goa. This ageless black temple carved out of basalt rock is an exquisite classic architecture dating back to the 12th century Kadamba dynasty, is said to be one of its kind, and an only surviving evidence of the time. Tambdi Surla gets its name from the village by it. The river Surla flows closeby. Facing the east the temple catches the first rays of the sun falling on it. This visually striking piece of history and the most beautiful serene and winding pathways leading to it is a must visit for all.
