Munnar: A Tranquil Haven

You would run out of names for shades of green if you were in Munnar. A short walk away from the grime and scruff of the centre of Munnar town, are round, rolling hills contoured and sculpted by tea and coffee plantations. Somewhere on the horizon would be the mist kissed slopes of towering Anamudi. At over 2,695 m the highest peak of Southern India, Anamudi is a trek worth undertaking.
Found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji, the flower which bathes the hills in blue once in every twelve years. You can expect these mountains to turn blue again in 2018.
Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district, Munnar is breathtakingly beautiful, a haven of peace and tranquillity in God’s own country. Unending expanse of tea plantations, pristine valleys, high mountains, exotic species of flora and fauna, aroma of spice scented cool air… it’s the place you would wish never to leave.
