The Last Masters of the Art of Clay, Rosario the Potter

Hailing from the kumbhar that is the potter community of Goa, Rosario is one of the last in his community and village to be practising the art of making pots. A brilliant smile and a handsome face add to the aura of this frail octogenarian. Rosario is still in love with what he does, and is proud to show-off his pots, in this age and time when this art has seized to be a necessity in everyday life and almost the whole of his community and family have chosen to be far removed from the profession. A few steps ahead of his house at the end of the road lies his open studio by the side of a tiny stream occasionally graced by calls of peacocks from not too faraway.
